Watchlist provides queue and playback actions to Siri and the Shortcuts app, so you can refresh channels or start the next video without opening Watchlist.
Asking Siri
Say what you want done, naming Watchlist: “Refresh Watchlist” or “Open Watchlist”. Actions that read or change your queue require local-device authentication.
The actions
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Refresh Watchlist | Fetches new videos from the channels you follow |
| Add Channel | Follows a channel |
| Find Videos | Returns videos matching a search, for use in a shortcut |
| Get Video | Returns the details of one video |
| Control Playback | Plays, pauses or skips |
| Mark Video Watched | Moves a video out of the queue |
| Mark Video Unwatched | Puts it back |
| Open Video | Opens Watchlist to one video |
| Open Watchlist Section | Opens Review, Watch or Library |
| Open Review | Opens the review queue |
| Open Watchlist | Opens the app |
Widget and Control Centre
Up Next is the widget: what to watch, at a glance. Add it from the Home Screen or Lock Screen widget gallery, or Edit Widgets on Mac.
Watchlist also provides four Control Centre controls: Open Review, Open Watch, Add Channel and Refresh Channels. Touch and hold Control Centre, choose Add a Control, and search for Watchlist.
Automations worth building
- Refresh Channels before a commute. Video playback still requires a connection.
- Find Videos for a channel, then Mark Video Watched in bulk, to clear a backlog you know you will not watch.
- Open Review on a Focus change, if reviewing is something you do at a set time.
