Watchlist follows the YouTube channels you choose over their public feeds. It shows uploads only from channels you choose.
First run
- Review the privacy disclosure, which explains each connection Watchlist makes.
- Add a channel or two (see Following channels). Moving from YouTube? Import all your subscriptions at once from Google Takeout, from the same Add Channel sheet.
- New uploads arrive in Review.
- Keep what looks worth your time; dismiss the rest.
Find your way around
- Watch (⌘1): the videos you kept, ready to play.
- Review (⌘2): new uploads waiting for a yes or no.
- History (⌘3): everything you have watched, and what you dismissed this week.
- Channels (⌘4): your follows.
- Collections: groups you create around interests or projects. Open them from the Mac sidebar or the Collections tab on iPhone and iPad.
Collections sit alongside the Review → Watch → History workflow. File individual videos, or link channels so their uploads arrive in a collection automatically. One video can belong to more than one collection.
How new videos arrive
Watchlist checks for uploads while it is open and can refresh in the background. Background timing is controlled by the operating system, so it is not a guaranteed schedule. Force a check with ⌘R, or pull down in Review on iPhone and iPad.
Next steps
- Following channels: how it works without an account, and bringing your YouTube subscriptions across.
- Review, Watch, History: the triage loop.
- Collections: grouping videos and linking channels.
- Filters and Shorts: keeping the noise out.
