It is easy for time to pass between conversations. Keep Up keeps that gap visible, so you can decide when to get back in touch.
Choose how often
Open someone and choose Choose How Often in their Keep Up card: every week, every 2 weeks, every month, every few months, every year, or Custom… for a number of days of your own. Once it is set, the rhythm shows at the top of the card, and the same menu changes it or turns it off with Stop Keep Up.
People without Keep Up never appear as due. That is deliberate: not everyone needs keeping up with on a schedule.
Settings ▸ General ▸ Default How Often sets which rhythm is marked (suggested) in that menu, so the usual choice is easy to find.
The ring
Everyone with Keep Up has a thin ring round their photo. It fills as the time since you last caught up passes, and closes in the due colour when they are due. A snoozed person shows a faint full ring.
Caught Up
When you have been in touch, choose Caught Up. It is one tap: Circle records a catch-up for today, moves their next due date and offers Undo.
Caught Up is on the rows in Today and Keep Up, in the person’s Keep Up card, and when you right-click or long-press someone. On Mac and iPad, ⇧⌘M marks the selected person as caught up.
After you call or message someone from Circle, it asks Did you catch up with Sarah? so you can record it without looking for the button.
Caught up on another day, or with a note
If you caught up yesterday or earlier in the week, choose Caught Up On… in the Keep Up card (or Caught Up on Another Day…, ⌥⇧⌘M on Mac and iPad). Pick the day and add an optional note, then save.
Snooze
When someone is due but now is not the time, choose Snooze in their Keep Up card: tomorrow, next week, next month or a day you choose. While snoozed, the card says when they will be due again, with Resume to undo it.
Catch-ups
A person’s page lists their Catch-ups, newest first, with any note. When Circle knows how you were in touch, such as a call made from Circle, it shows that too.
Tap a catch-up to change its day or note, or to delete it. Reset Catch-ups… in the person’s ⋯ menu clears their history. Catch-ups belong to Circle; changing them never touches the person’s Apple Contacts card.
Your notes about a person are separate from a catch-up’s note. Use the person’s notes for context you want to keep, and a catch-up’s note for that particular conversation.
Today and Keep Up
Today shows who is due, this week’s birthdays, who is coming up in the next seven days and who you have caught up with recently.
Keep Up lists everyone you keep up with, grouped Due, This Week, Later and Snoozed, in the order they fall due.
